Immersed in Christ: Second Saturday of Easter: April 17, 2021

Give Flesh to The Spirit

The Creed says the Holy Spirit is equally "adored and glorified" with the Father and Son" This reminds us to be as conscious of the Spirit as we are of the Father and Jesus.

We adore the Father by praising and obeying him as Creator of all things, and by taking responsibility for the planet as "stewards of creation" (Eucharistic Prayer IV).

We adore the Son by recognizing the divinity of his body, not only in the Incarnation and Eucharist, but also in the living members of his Body on earth: ourselves and all who have accepted the "grace (divine Life) of the Lord Jesus Christ."

We adore the Spirit by striving for constant, total surrender to his inspirations and counting on his empowerment.

We glorify the Father by visibly making the first three petitions of the Our Father our first three priorities in life. Jesus said, "I have made your name known… I glorified you on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do… My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit…" (see John 17:1ff.; 15:8).

We glorify the Son by being the "sign of Jonah," living visibly in a way that reveals Jesus risen and acting in us (see Matthew 12:38; John 17:1ff.).

We glorify the Spirit by making the Gifts and Fruits of the Spirit physically manifest in all we say and do.

ACTION: Read about the Gifts and Fruits in Isaiah 11:2; Galatians 5:22.

PRAYER: Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful.
