Immersed in Christ: March 15, 2021

Monday of the Fourth Week of Lent

Isaiah 65:17-21; Psalm 30; John 4:43-54

Our Father Explains The World

Shout for joy and be glad forever in what I am creating.” Isaiah 65:18

True “myths” are not fiction, but fundamental folktales original people told around campfires to pass on their answers to the basic questions of life. The Judeo-Christian revelation began when God told his own story about creation (Genesis 1ff.).

God created the world to be a paradise. It isn’t, because we messed it up by sin.

God accepts responsibility for giving us free will, knowing we would use it both to love and to hate. But what we make bad by sin, God can make good again. And intends to.

“I am about to create new heavens and a new earth;

The things of the past shall not be remembered.”

He will wipe every tear from their eyes. Death… and pain will be no more, for the former things have passed away (Revelation 21:4).

We will “shout for joy and be glad forever” for what our Father has created. We should begin now—and keep it up.

We don’t wonder about the evil in the world or blame God for it. We know where it comes from and who is responsible. And we know our Father will make all things well. “All shall be well. All manner of things shall be well.”

Our Father has explained things to us.

ACTION: After Communion at Mass, enjoy a preview of the peace and unity that are to come.

PRAYER: “Your will be done—on earth, as it is in heaven.”
