No Power But Love (Matthew Series Book 5)
$10.00
No Power But Love, the fifth book in a 6-volume series on Matthew’s Gospel, shows us how Jesus saved the world, relying on no power except truth and love. This presents us with the challenge of dying to self to minister with Christ in fulfillment of our Baptismal Promise to minister to others as “priests.” Father Knight suggests that choosing to serve as priest is to immerse oneself in the ministry of giving life to others. We do this by offering our bodies to be the medium of Christ’s self-expression to our faith, hope and love we communicate God’s truth and love to others by embodying them in human words and actions.
During my 55 years of almost daily proclaiming, teaching, studying, analyzing, or pondering the Nonviolent Jesus of the Gospels and His Way of Nonviolent Love of all under all circumstances, I have been asked by untold numbers of people, “What can I read to more deeply understand this Gospel Truth regarding Jesus and His Way?” My response for decades has been that there are many good books out there on this subject and to mention five to ten titles. This is no longer the case. Now I say that the very best book to read in order to begin to understand and to reflect deeply on the Truth of Nonviolent Love of friends and enemies as taught by word and deed by the Nonviolent Jesus in the Gospels is No Power but Love by Father David M. Knight, PhD., a Catholic pastor from Memphis, TN.
I always add that this book will lead a person to other excellent writings on Gospel Nonviolence. However, the basics that a person will need to properly comprehend and evaluate the content, implications, and applications of the truth of Jesus’ Nonviolence, as it is presented in other writings, is most solidly, clearly, and cogently expressed in No Power but Love. It is the premier book out there to begin to grasp the essential dynamic, as well as the temporal and the eternal seriousness of this Gospel truth—a Gospel Truth, a Truth of God, a Truth of Salvation of which the most elementary knowledge is foreign to most Christians, because it has been unwanted, un-proclaimed, kept in the dark and all but suppressed for most of the last 1700 years of Church History. Be assured, however, that No Power but Love will not only enlighten a Christian’s darkness but will also enliven via the Spirit of Truth every aspect of a Christian’s faith.
