Living God’s Word 2026
A Weekly and Daily Resource for Spiritual Formation
Living God’s Word is handout (physical or electronic) designed to encourage daily scripture reading, prayer, and above all, action. Aligned with the liturgical year that begins on November 30 this year, it is affordable, easy to distribute, and yet deeply spiritual engaging. Those who pray with it regularly will deepen their spiritual lives both methodically and meaningfully.
What sets these reflections apart?
It’s for Every Day—Not Just Sundays. Living God’s Word encourages readers to reflect every day of the week. It goes beyond the Sunday scriptures by offering daily prayers, scripture passages, and questions for reflection.
It’s a Convenient, Single handout. Skip daily emails—this one-page (double-sided) handout covers everything.
It Prompts Daily Action. The heart of these reflections and prayers is a call to live out one’s faith actively, each day, by responding to the calls of Christian Baptism. To support readers in moving from internal prayer to outward action, each installment includes a challenge: act daily according to our commitments as Baptized children of God in five areas of Christian life:
-
- Commitment to being a Christian by letting Christ guide every aspect of life—school, work, home, social activities, politics, finances, and more.
- Commitment to be a Disciple by intentionally and constantly learning more about Jesus, scripture, and Church teaching.
- Commitment to the Prophetic call of Baptism by making every part of life bear witness to Christ.
- Commitment to the Priestly call of Baptism by sharing God’s love with others through acts of charity and service.
- Commitment to the Kingship call of Baptism by taking responsibility for God’s Kingdom and seeking to improve the world through the Church’s Social Teachings.
Frequent readers of Living God’s Word note that it fosters thoughtful inquiry and discussion. Including these inserts in your weekly bulletin—whether printed or emailed—can help get parishioners involved, both on their own and in small prayer groups, and might even lead to interesting talks at the family dinner table!

Reaching Jesus : Five Steps to the Fullness of Life
Available in English and Spanish paperbacks and EPUBS
If you are looking for a plan, for a path blazed by saints and followed by Christians for centuries—sometimes without clearly recognizing the steps they were taking—you will find it in Reaching Jesus: Five Steps to the Fullness of Life.
The book identifies five stages of the journey by five objectives to aim at and then translates the steps into five choices. Everything is clear, concrete, and surprisingly easy—to begin with. The book will show you how to put the mysteries and promises of your Baptism into practice so that God can transform your life in ways that are far beyond your wildest expectations.
“…absolutely superb… a first-rate, down-to-earth, practical guide to real-life spirituality for any Christian believer.”
— Archbishop Pilarczyk of Cincinnati
“To write the words ‘Jesus is acting with me, in me, and through me’ presupposes a profound, vital, authentic, coherent experience. This experience is what Father David Knight, during the 60 years of his priestly ministry, tried to share with the thousands of people he met in his life, and is now passing on to readers through this book.
— Bishop Alvaro Cardenal Ramazzini of Huehuetenango

The Five Promises of Baptism
Available in English and Spanish paperbacks and EPUBS
The Five Promises of Baptism is an excellent choice for O.C.I.A. candidates and for parents of the newly baptized, or as a follow-up to Reaching Jesus: Five Steps to the Fullness of Life.
This short book is an encouraging presentation that reveals five mysteries and commitments of Baptism as five promises God makes to us when we are baptized. It also teaches us to recognize and claim these promises as five “ordinary mystical experiences” inherent in every authentic Christian life. Father Knight shows you a simple — but meaningful — way to make your spirituality your way of life by making it your conscious focus to live out your Baptism. This is a book about promises made to you by God and promises made to God by you. This is the foundation and the goal of everyone who strives to live a “life of grace.”
A Fresh Look at Confession: Why It Really Is Good for the Soul
Priests don’t hear sins in Confession. In Confession, what you are really revealing is your ideals. The “real you” has a different set of ideals, reflecting your heart instead of your lapses.
A Fresh Look at Confession is unlike anything you may have read about the sacrament. Here, you will learn about the heart of Confession, its meaning and mystery, and why it is so necessary for authentic followers of Christ. This is deep theology, explained in clear language.
This powerful and needed book explores confession as a sacrament of self-identity, community, and as an encounter with God. Along the way, you learn about concepts and doctrines such as mortal sin, absolution, purgatory, and the need to confess sins to a priest. This is powerful reading for anyone who struggles with confession, and for all who wish to explore this mystical, healing, and life giving sacrament.
A Fresh Look at the Mass: A Helpful Guide to Better Understand and Celebrate the Mystery
Enter into God’s awesome mystery by gaining a deeper and more personal understanding of the prayers, gestures, symbols, mysteries, and realities of the Mass. From the Opening Rites, through the Liturgy of the Word and the Eucharist, right down to “the Mass is ended,” you’ll discover how the Mass brings you to an encounter with Jesus that is unmatched by any other experience.
This thorough, engaging, and inspirational work is perfect for group or individual study, and for anyone who wishes to be lifted up to a new world — “the world of conscious relationship with God.”
The Way of the Spirit: Using the Gifts, Showing the Fruits
Wisdom, understanding, knowledge… As Christians, we might know the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, but if we’re really honest, we don’t always understand what they mean and what they do for us. Here, Fr. David Knight shows how these gifts empower us to live the divine life right here, right now.
Using clear, straightforward language, he explains Scripture and Church teaching: Wisdom the gift of seeing everything we do in the light of all we are and are called to be… Knowledge is practical know-how in the spiritual life… Here too are suggestions for using these gifts and how to know if we are using them well. (Hint: we’ll see the Fruits of the Spirit alive in our lives, and Fr. Knight offers perspectives on these, too.) Each section of this powerful book can help us grow in understanding these gifts so that we might be guided by the Holy Spirit toward living fully the Life that is already ours.
