The Father Saves

Wednesday (Week IV of Lent)

Lectionary No. 246

Isaiah 49:8-15; Psalm 145; John 5:17-30

My Father is at work until now, so I am at work.John 5:17

When I was younger, I was afraid of God the Father. So I went to Jesus as Savior for everything. But Jesus says, “The Son cannot do anything on his own, but only what he sees the Father doing.”

Whoever has seen me has seen the Father… The Father who dwells in me does his works (John 14:9).

The work of the Father and of Jesus is the same:

“The Father raises the dead and gives life, so also does the Son...” Jesus said, “I came so that they might have life… to the full” (John 10:10). That life is a gift of the Father.

We take for granted that those who give life love: “Can a mother… be without tenderness for the child of her womb?” but our Father says, “Even should she forget, I will never forget you… All flesh shall know that I, the LORD, am your savior” (Isaiah 49:15).

Our Savior is not just Jesus, but the Father. He “so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

“There is no fear in love… whoever fears has not reached perfection in love” (1John 4:18).

ACTION: Whenever you feel anxious, think of the Father work

PRAYER: "My spirit rejoices in God my Savior." (Luke 1:47)
