A Father Visible In Us

Anyone who looked at the bronze serpent lived... Numbers 21:9

Often the sufferings in our situation make us complain to God as his People did: “Why have you brought us to die in this desert?”

The serpent on the pole was a preview of Jesus on the cross. Whenever we think of God as uncaring, we are dying to our relationship with him. The remedy is to look at the proof of the Father’s love in Jesus.

“God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent his only Son into the world so that we might have life through him” (1John 4:9).

Jesus said, “I am the Way (to the Father), the Truth (of the Father), and the Life (of the Father, given to us). No one comes to the Father except through me… Whoever has seen me has seen the Father” (John 14:6, 9).

And whoever sees us, sees Jesus! Paul said he was sent to preach “the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you! (Colossians 1:27). This is the mystery of Christianity.

We exist to glorify the Father by letting his life and love, the life and love of Jesus, shine out visibly in our life. Christian ministry is not to talk about God, but to let the Father, Son, and Spirit reveal themselves in and through our physical words and actions.

Then those who look at us will have life.

ACTION: Give physical expression to your faith, hope, and love.

PRAYER: “Father, let me make you visible!”
