It is just a fact that you can’t share everything with everyone, even though you want to.
Some aren’t ready to hear what you have to say. Some can’t accept it. So, rather than drive them further away, you wait until they are ready. And try to make them ready.
Jesus does this. If we have accepted the gift of faith and opened ourselves to his light, he calls us his friends. And the more we are his friends, the more he will share with us:
I do not call you servants any longer, because the servant does not know what the master is doing; but I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything that I have heard from my Father.
Making us his friends was Jesus’s idea, not ours. “You did not choose me but I chose you” (John 15:14-16). Who would presume to be an intimate friend of God himself? If we take this for granted today, it is because in Jesus God came close and invited us. But it is not to be taken for granted; it is the mystery of God’s love.
Friendship is interaction. Interact with Jesus and he will share his heart and soul with you.
ACTION: Think of what your friends share with you. In the Gospels, does Jesus share more?
PRAYER: “Lord, be with me. Let me be with you.”
